Morehouse Parish Work Release Program Sheriff Mike Tubbs

Sheriff Mike Tubbs offers a
work release program for
inmates assigned to the
Department of Corrections
located at the Morehouse
Parish Sheriff's Office. The
objective of the program is to
secure gainful employment in
the community of participants
nearing the end of their
sentences.
Participants are those who
have demonstrated a desire to
work by exhibiting good
behavior, of sound mental and
physical health are considered
a minimum security risk. Each
participant is heavily screened
and must meet criteria set forth
in the Louisiana Criminal
Code R.S.15:711.
Benefits for Employees
and Business Owners

1. Welfare to Work Tax
Credit Program offers $2,400
tax credit to employees.
2. Employee is eager to work
everyday with no excuses for
being late or absent.
3. Transportation is
provided by the Morehouse
Parish Sheriff's Office.
4. Employee is allowed to
work up to a twelve hours in
twenty-four period six days a
week. (longer hrs. can be
approved by Sheriff).
5. Employee is aware that
failure to report, or perform
assigned work by the
employer may result in
termination from the
program and return to the
Department of Corrections.
6. Employee is subject to
random drug testing at no
cost to the employer.
Earn Federal Income Tax Credits The Welfare to Work Tax Credit (WTW) for hiring all WTW target groups except Summer Youth Employees, is up to $2,400 for each new hire: 40% of qualified first-year wages for those employees 400 or more hours, 25% for those employed at least 120 hours. This program is of no
cost to tax payers. In
fact the inmates pay
for their own upkeep,
room and board and
transportation. It
provides a sourse of
revenues for the
Morehouse Parish
Sheriff's Office.
