| TRIAD of Morehouse and the Morehouse Parish Sheriff’s Office are proud to have the new Are You Okay service installed. This service is recognized nationwide as RUOK ? The system is designed for older adults, disabled persons, shut-ins who live alone, or anyone in the community who needs to be checked on daily. It is a computerized calling system donated by TRIAD and operated free of charge by the Morehouse Parish Sheriff’s Office. The system calls each enrolled subscriber every day of the year at the same time of day. When the subscriber picks up the phone he or she will hear a voice saying “Are you okay?” If the subscriber fails to answer after several tries in a row, the computer issues an alert to the dispatcher who will send a patrol car to check on the person. This system is now in use throughout the United States and Canada; it has saved a number of lives and reduces worry and anguish for countless citizens and their family and friends. It is very important to understand that RUOK is not intended to take the place of other medical alert services which a person is now using. TRIAD and the Sheriff’s Office strongly urge the continued use of these devices in addition to RUOK. Everyone who signs up for this service will be asked to fill out a short form with medical and other information which may be needed in an emergency. This information will be kept totally confidential; and only used by law enforcement. If you wish to sign up, or think you might be interested and would like to talk about it with someone, please call Lucille Kennedy at (318-281-4141) or email mpsolkennedy@bellsouth.net |
